Alaska Cruise Adventure on Carnival by Kat
Ahoy there, fellow travelers! Sgt. Quackers here—your feathered, travel-loving guide. I recently tagged along (in spirit, and in a carry-on if you ask nicely) on a Carnival cruise to Alaska with one of our Go Joe Travel friends. From breathtaking glaciers to fresh salmon feasts, this journey was packed with adventures that could thaw even the iciest beak.
Let’s waddle through the highlights together. I’ll pop in from time to time to keep things smooth sailing.
The Chef’s Table Experience
One unforgettable experience onboard was the Chef’s Table. This exclusive event began with a guided tour of the ship’s galley. Watching the kitchen staff move like a well-oiled machine was incredible—each person focused on their own task, yet working seamlessly together.
Then came the real treat: a 14-course meal that wowed every taste bud. From dishes you might never think to order on your own to gourmet surprises, it was a culinary adventure worth savoring. At $90 per person, it was worth every penny. Highly recommended for your next Carnival cruise!
Sgt. Quackers’ Note: I may be a duck, but after hearing about this, I’m tempted to trade breadcrumbs for a reservation at the Chef’s Table.
Skagway Adventures
Our first Alaskan stop was Skagway. The town itself is charming and worth exploring, but our chosen excursion was a triple treat: sled dogs, gold panning, and a scenic train ride up the mountain.
If you visit in April or May, you may even meet newborn sled dog puppies—talk about adorable overload! Each stop along the way provided fascinating insights into Alaska’s history and culture. Just remember: bring a rain jacket and warm layers, because the weather changes quickly.
Sgt. Quackers Says: Skagway’s gold might be shiny, but the real treasure was those puppy cuddles. And trust me, I know a thing or two about wagging tails… I have a few feathered cousins who can’t resist attention either.
Juneau – The Favorite Stop
Next came Juneau, Alaska’s capital city, and the favorite excursion of the trip. This was a seaplane adventure to a remote island, accessible only by boat or plane. The flight offered sweeping views of five major glaciers—a once-in-a-lifetime sight.
Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with a meal featuring freshly smoked salmon, paired with local hospitality and fascinating stories about the island’s history. After dining, there was time to stroll, explore, or simply soak in the stunning scenery before the seaplanes returned to carry everyone back.
This experience was a clear highlight of the cruise and comes highly recommended.
Sgt. Quackers Says: If I had wings that big, I’d join the seaplane club myself. But for now, I’ll keep sticking to puddles and ponds. Onward we go!
Ketchikan – Mud, Fun, and Memories
In Ketchikan, the choice was an ATV excursion. Rain poured down, and it was obvious we’d be muddy by the end. Luckily, the tour provided rain gear, keeping everyone relatively dry.
The ride was fun, full of rugged trails and scenic views, though it wasn’t the favorite activity of the trip. Still, it offered a unique way to experience Alaska’s natural beauty.
Sgt. Quackers Says: Muddy feathers? No thank you! But for thrill-seekers who don’t mind a little splash, Ketchikan’s ATV rides make for a wild memory.
Victoria, Canada – A Charming Finale
The final stop was Victoria, British Columbia. Because the ship docked later in the evening, there wasn’t time for a full excursion, but the town’s charm still shone through.
The downtown area was lined with shops and restaurants, and when the sun went down, the city lit up beautifully, especially its landmark buildings. Though only a short visit this time, it sparked a desire to return for a longer trip in the future.
Sgt. Quackers’ Closing Note: Three hours in Victoria is just a teaser—like giving me one cracker when I wanted the whole box! It’s a place worth planning a separate trip to truly explore.
Final Thoughts
From the Chef’s Table to glacier flights and muddy ATV rides, this Carnival cruise to Alaska was an unforgettable adventure filled with variety and wonder. Each stop had something special to offer, making it the kind of trip that lingers in your memory long after you’re back home.
Sgt. Quackers signing off: Alaska is a land of breathtaking sights and big adventures—and with Go Joe Travel, you won’t just see it, you’ll experience it. Until next time, keep dreaming, planning, and cruising!
